About Us

Who We Are

In 1957, a few Christians from the Stuart area decided that a congregation of the Lord’s church was needed. Because of this decision, approximately 8 Christians began meeting for one worship service each Sunday in the home of one of the members. Shortly after they first began meeting, they outgrew the house in which they were meeting so the newly formed congregation took advantage of an offer by the City of Stuart to use the shuffleboard court building rent-free.

During this time, four corner lots became available on Palm Beach Road which was quickly purchased by the church and they began plans for constructing a building on this property. The building was constructed by William Bessemer, one of the members of the congregation. The church of Christ at Stuart met in their newly constructed facilities for the first time on April 1, 1958.

Since then, additions were made, new properties purchased, and numerous men have served this congregation. We are currently served by three men in the eldership: Terry Frizzell, Willie Leonard, and Greg Moody. Throughout the years the congregation has been and continues to be involved in many different mission works, both local and worldwide. The Stuart church of Christ has a rich history and a bright future in the service of our Lord.

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light
— 1 Peter 2:9

What We Believe

Christian beliefs are not the product of our preferences or imaginations. God has revealed what we are to believe and how we are to live. As Christians, we endeavor to learn and understand God’s will. Here are few examples of what we believe.

GOD - We believe in the God of the Bible who created and sustains all that is.

JESUS - We believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that he is the only way to salvation and eternal life.

THE BIBLE - We believe that the Bible is the God-given guide that we must follow in order to get the most out of life.

GRACE & SIN - We believe that sin is the problem and that God’s grace is the only solution.

THE CHURCH - We believe that the church is the gathering of God’s people on earth.

BAPTISM - We believe that baptism is the immersion of believers and is necessary for our salvation.

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
— 2 Timothy 2:15

What to Expect

When you visit, you will find people of all walks of life, races, educational backgrounds, and economic levels. You will meet friendly people who sincerely want to follow the teachings of the Bible and please God with their lives. A typical Sunday Service is made up of multiple songs of praise and prayers, a lesson grounded in God’s Word, and the Lord’s Supper. You may notice that the praise band is seemingly missing. Instead, the whole congregation sings a capella (without mechanical instruments), just as they did in New Testament times (Ephesians 5:19).

When you visit, you’ll see families of all shapes and sizes. On Sunday, there will be age-appropriate classes for children, teens, and adults before the morning service. On Wednesday, those classes will follow a short devotional in the auditorium.

When you visit, you are our honored guests.

Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
— 1 Peter 1:8-9

What Must I Do To Be Saved?

One has to hear the Gospel — “How shall they call on him whom they have not heard? And how shall they believe him whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? (Romans 10:14). “So then faith comes by hearing and hearing comes by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17).

One has to believe in God — “And without faith it is impossible to be well-pleasing unto Him; for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and the He is a rewarder of them that seek after Him.” (Hebrews 11:6). “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; he that believeth not shall be damned.” (Mark 16:16).

One has to Repent of their sins — “The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked; but now he commandeth men that they should all everywhere repent.” (Acts 17:30). “Nay except you repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3, 5).

One has to Confess Jesus as Lord — “Behold there is water; what doth hindereth me to be baptized? And Phillip said, if thou believeth with all they heart thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” (Acts 8:36-37).

Be baptized for the remission of sins — “Then Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'” (Acts 2:38)

One should live faithfully to Christ — “… be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. (Rev. 2:10b). He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.” (Rev. 2:7)

Be the church.
